Design & Programming
The original design of this web-site was very much an iterative process.
Graeme Skinner went through a number of designs and layouts.
The various page formats were derived after a number of trial processes using Powerpoint as a prototype medium.
From a content point of view, practically every page is driven by a simple text file that defines the textual content to be shown. That file also controls (implies) the 'shape' of the presentation - the web site consisting of a number of different presentation shapes.
All pages are delivered to the User's Web Browser via the use of PHP.
The technical aspects of the site were under the direction of Walter Mann.
The site was created though the use of Macromedia Dreamweaver and simple text editors, ensuring that the code adheres to the required XML, HTML and CSS standards defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
All colours and presentation is controlled by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
The site was loaded and hosted on multiple parallel web servers provided by Walter's company Walcam Ltd.
A visit counter was incorporated into the site using text file database and PHP programming.
The counters can be viewed by clicking HERE or on the front home page by clicking the Copyright sign at the bottom of the page.
