The Friends of IPASC Trust plays an important role in making friends for IPASC in the UK through creating awareness of IPASC’S work in Congo. As an ambassador and advocate of IPASC, the Trust makes many people in the UK aware of the role of IPASC in improving the health of vulnerable people.
As a prayer partner, the Friends of IPASC Trust shares prayer requests and thanksgiving with our UK friends. The prayer support is a great encouragement for the staff and the work of IPASC.
Lastly, the Trust plays a key role in raising money each year which contributes toward the IPASC budget. We are grateful for the way God gave Pat Nickson friends who could continue to support the work of IPASC after her death.
Here are some brief examples of how support from the UK is making a difference in Congo:
The Safe Motherhood programme focuses on aiding pregnant women at high risk through raising awareness of good sexual health and healthy living for pregnant women. There are now many women in ADI hospital, where, as a consequence of early diagnostic problems, there has been a rise in the number of women giving birth and doing so safely.
The Primary Health Care Team work within local communities enabling them to ‘help themselves’. One way in which this is done is by encouraging the locals to build their own water projects. IPASC provides the necessary materials, and the community work together in building the clean water source, providing them with a sense of ownership. The team also raises awareness regarding good health and avoidance of malaria.
The HIV/Aids Team continue their awareness raising in the local community by encouraging early testing for HIV as well as providing support for those positively diagnosed. Support includes counselling, esteem building and providing anti retro viral drugs.
