“Pat’s book leaves you in no doubt of her philosophy for her work: to bring true healing to an individual or community you need to get to know them, love them before proceeding with a holistic, culturally sensitive approach. It contains stories of adventures that could easily form part of an Indiana Jones movie. Some are probably so amazing they would be considered too far-fetched for Hollywood to commission! With each page you get a sense of the amazing woman she was, recording in her own inimitable, matter of fact style the highlights of each trip or new project. There is no question of her amazing professional talents as she ministered to those in need.
Whether you knew Pat as a close friend or you never met her, you could not fail to read her book and feel touched by her life. I have to warn you it may leave you feeling your faith and actions are insignificant in comparison. I hope it will spur you on to trust for yourself that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Our mission field may not be in Australia, Asia or Africa. However, perhaps Pat’s book will encourage us as we deepen our faith, remind ourselves of the mission and evangelism we are involved in, deepen the love we have for our communities and so maximise the impact we can have on them for our Lord.”
